What is a sunday service like?

Our Sunday service is centered on the truth of Jesus Christ through Scripture, prayer, music and preaching. Our church family comes from all over the Metro West to worship God together. The service begins at 10:30 am and lasts for about an hour and fifteen minutes. The worship music is contemporary with elements of traditional hymns.

What should I wear?

If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you no matter when you visit. For our children, we encourage hands on play so that children are learning through all their senses, so use your own judgment about how dressed up your child is while at church.

What are sermons like?

You can expect to hear about Jesus from the Bible. We generally preach through books of the Bible or occasional topical series. Our aim is to help our listeners understand the meaning of the text so they can apply it to their lives.

We have workers who are ready to give your children the special care and attention they need in a safe and quality environment. Currently during our worship service, we have “Next Gen” for K–5 as well as nursery care for infants and preschoolers. Children may be dropped off 10 minutes prior to the start of service.

What do you offer for youth?

KGS Youth welcomes middle school and high school students every Sunday night (6:00–8:00 pm) for fun activities, games, worship, prayer, and for Bible studies. KGS stands as an acronym that conveys the mission of our student ministry. We seek to come to a salvific knowledge of God, growth in our relationships with God and others, while going out and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Each Sunday the students will hear teaching through our Student Ministry leader, Edgardo Rosa, or other members of the FBCS community. KGS focuses in leading students in small group discussion, catching up on their week, and encouraging them in their walk with Jesus.

What does it mean to become a member?

Membership is more than attending and voting at church meetings. Church membership is not about what you get out of it. Church membership is a partnership. It is a relational covenant between an individual and a body of believers to live together in community according to the Scriptures. We depend on members who are engaged and active to help shape the future of our church.

To become a member, we will ask you to:

  1. Attend a membership class. This class is taught by an elder of the church and gives a thorough overview of the church’s beliefs and distinctives. If you are new and unsure about membership, attending this class will give you a great start.

  2. Read a membership book called “The Character of the Church” This quick-read helps lay a foundation for Biblical reasons for membership.

  3. Setup a meeting with an elder. This is a time to get to know each other and your journey of faith.

  4. Be baptized, if you haven’t been.

  5. Profess your desire for membership at the church and your belief in Jesus.

If you are interested in pursuing membership at FBCS, schedule a meeting with Pastor Jay by emailing pastoryjay@fbcsudbury.org.
